East Meadow is the big postwar hamlet south of Eisenhower Park — grid after grid of Capes and splits, Hempstead Turnpike's commercial strip, and the county medical center. Between Eisenhower Park and the East Meadow library the housing shifts from 1950s Capes and ranches on the grid streets to 1970s Colonials toward Salisbury, with 1960s splits and high-ranches in the newer sections in between — three different jobs for a lighting crew.
