Deer Park is a flat, mid-Island hamlet built out in the 1950s and '60s around the LIRR station and Deer Park Avenue, with the outlets and the LIE along its northern edge. Between the Deer Park LIRR station and the Long Island Expressway the housing shifts from 1950s ranches and Capes on the grid west of Deer Park Avenue to newer townhouse communities near the Tanger Outlets, with 1960s high-ranches and splits toward Commack Road in between — three different jobs for a lighting crew.
